What is Invisalign®?
Invisalign® uses a series of plastic nearly invisible trays that are made to fit your teeth. Custom made to fit your teeth, Invisalign® is so transparent that no one will be the wiser.
How Does it Work?
Depending on your custom-made treatment plan, you will be prescribed between 11 and 31 sets of comfortable clear aligners. During your treatment, your rotated and tipped teeth will be moved into place with gentle movements from the clear plastic aligners. You will wear your aligners for 22 hours each day. It is imperative that you stick with your plan and only remove your clear braces when you eat, brush, and floss. If you don’t you run the risk of ruining the whole treatment plan.
How Long Does Invisalign® Take?
Depending on your particular case, the average time is 12 months. However, some patients have straight teeth in as little as 6 months, while others have a beautiful smile in 18 months.
Do Clear Braces Hurt?
Conventional braces can be painful. Invisalign® does cause some discomfort, but will not cause as much pain as traditional wires and brackets. Once you have worn them for a few days, the slight pain and discomfort should disappear. According to Glen Dental Center, a bit of discomfort means that the treatment is doing its job.
